Mountain Guides Ascend some of the highest peaks in the Vanoise with a hike on a glacier with spikes and ice pick. Climb rock, snow or ice faces with one of our experienced guides. Canyoning A unique adventure to share with friends and family be it a first sessions or a 2/3 day course. There is a varied programme every week, discover some of the hidden charms or the Savoire region as you abseil down some spectacular water chutes or jump into deep rock pools. Via Ferrata Test your nerve and agility by walking the perilously high wires across mountain ravines. The Vanoise National Park (Grande Casse 3852m, Mont Pourri 3779m etc.)is three quarters of an hour from Valmorel by car. The Grand Paradis Massif (4061m) two and a half hours, la Grande Sassiere (3747m) 1 hour and the Mont Blanc 1 and a half hours. Everyone welcome. The Canyons Discover the force of nature of the mountain streams, springs and waterfalls and marvel at the work of Mother Nature. Canyoning is a unique way to visit the mountains. Natural water slides, cascades and rock pools are hidden away in the secret canyons of the Savoie region and are well worth a look. Walks and Hikes Full day hikes. Hydrospeed The thrilling sensation of hydro speeding known as “current tobogganing”. The plastic hull acts as a float and shield. The swimmer in re-enforced diving suit with helmet and knee pads lies in the toboggan. It is possible to descend the currents without danger. Hog Dog Small inflatable canoes which empty automatically, for either 1 or 2 persons, sensational ride on the rapids and torrents without the inconvenience of overturning, rodeos and excitement assured. Rafting You are one of a group of seven or eight in and inflatable dingy, paddling in the eddies and the rapids of the Isere or Doron river. Archery Concentration, silence, harmony with nature and conviviality are the necessary perquisites for archery. Our on-site playground in front of the children’s club Saperlipopette our instructors will be happy to introduce you to this fascinating sport open to 6 to 99 year olds! Various possibilities for beginners to advanced. Horse Riding The “Diligence” riding centre is situated on the edge of the forest at Plan Chevron. The Local Heritage Trail The Traditional Museum at Quarante Planes is easy to reach by the footpaths which leave from Valmorel . The village of les Meiller features an octagonal chapel and an old working dairy. The village of les Avanchers owns the St Roch chapel. Swimming Pool A large heated pool with varying depths and a paddling pool. Lawns and terraces at different levels so you can be in the water and make the most of the sunshine too. Sports tournaments FACIM The FACIM is the International Alpine Heritage Foundation which organises visits to the castles, forts and Baroque churches in the region. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the splendid Baroque Church of St Andre in Doucy during your stay, The heritage guide will explain the history of the church and the origins of the ornate décor in the Baroque style. The guide will also be in Valmorel. Yoga Valmorel offers the peaceful, refreshing environment essential for yoga. The yoga instructor, accredited by the FNEY (National Federation of Yoga Teachers), invites you to explore the relationship between your body and your breathing to inject that vital spark into physical activities (hiking, winter sports), practice techniques which compensate for muscular strain and free up your joints. Relax your mind and let yourself go and activate your vital energy. Cinema There are two auditoriums with a daily programme of the latest releases. Saperlipopette – The Children’s club The club has geared itself to help smooth out your holiday organisation. Contact them if you have an early walk departure time, or will be late back or need to book the kids in for a full day. Equipment Remember to provide a small back pack, trainers, waterproof, sun hat and cream. Toddlers (6 months to 3 years) Nursery with play rooms, babies changing rooms, quiet area for sleeps, sunny wooded terrace. The child minders look after and play with the little ones in total security (water games, finger painting, songs). 3-5 years old Discover life on the farm:

Activities and Sessions Cyber club 5-12 years – children will love the educative games and programmes which are available at Piou-Piou children’s club. Mountain biking for kids 8-12 years – learn about mountain biking in a safe and fun way: balance, motors functions, use of gears, braking in preparation for a scramble in the forest. Coaching by a state accredited mountain bike instructor. Loan of bike, helmet, protective gear. Barbeque evening – barbeque for 8-12 year olds (no adults allowed) every Thursday evening. Lots of singing round the fire, ghostly stories and some serious grilling. Circus week 7-12 years – these courses will be held between 16th July and 24th August. Discover a world of jugglers, clowns, plate balancing and all manner of tricks. Create your own fireworks (+10 years) – this is a special course which will only run for one week. Learn how to make your own fire crackers and rockets about the security required when working with exlposive devices and how to set them off. |
