The village was created by Pierre Dinier, who has real empathy for the alpine slopes of the Tarentaise Valley, of which the Morel is a tributary valley. Its authentic charm has been captured through the design of chalet style apartments, innovative in its day and stands the test of time, because of that attention to detail, which broke the mould of the early ski resort developments, with their characterless architecture.

Utilising natural materials in the construction of the development, its architecture harmonises with the natural environment, featuring a predominance of wood, granite stonework and schist slate roofs, utilising the skills of local artisans.

Sympathetically designed, the village development is unsurpassed in terms of the environment and panoramic views. The friendly pedestrianised village centre with its facàdes painted in the trompe-l’oeil style frescos and easy accessible pistes and lift system, add to the resorts overall appeal.

The wooded slopes of the Cheval Noir, the proximity of the Grand-Naves; Vanoise, Lauziere and Beaufortain mountain ranges and the Mont Blanc Massif as a visual backdrop makes for great scenic views and the breathtaking landscape from the apartments and the pistes, makes it such an inspiring, yet relaxing attractive setting.

After a hard days skiing, you can enjoy local Savoyard specialities, such as Diots, Racalette, Fondue and Tartilflette with local Savoie wines of Gamay, Mondeuse for reds and for white wine the Rousette, Apremont, Chignon-Bergeron and the Quenard families who dominate the village of Chignon, with the meal finished off with local distilled drink Genèpi.
